July 26, 2025Department of Electrical Engineering of Mirpur University Produced its 7th Ph.D. Graduate

The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K, proudly announces the successful defense of its seventh Ph.D. graduate, Ms. Firdos Kanwal, Ph.D. scholar in Electrical Engineering. She successfully defended her dissertation in an open public defense session, marking a significant academic milestone for the department.
Her doctoral research, titled “ Remote Health Monitoring System based on Optical Techniques ,” was supervised by Dr. Anwar Ul Haq, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering. Her work addresses critical challenges in the field of remote healthcare technologies, presenting novel contributions through the application of optical techniques in health monitoring systems. The dissertation was rigorously evaluated by a panel of esteemed national and international examiners. The foreign examiner, Prof. Dr. Kaiwen Zhang from École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), University of Quebec, Montreal, Canada, and the external examiner, Dr. Yuemin Ding from the University of Navarra, Spain, both acknowledged the significance and originality of her work.
The local examiner, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farhan Shafique from COMSATS University Islamabad, conducted the open public defense and praised the quality of research and commitment by the scholar and supervision team.The defense session was graced by several distinguished academic and administrative officials, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology; Prof. Dr. Khurram Pervaiz Amber, Director QEC, Mr. Kamran Hameed, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Muhammad Ilyas Menhas, Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering; Nominee of AS&RB; Faculty members from various engineering and science disciplines, as well as Ph.D./M.Phil. research scholars and students from the Department of Electrical Engineering, attended the session. The successful completion of Ms. Firdos Kanwal’s Ph.D. reflects the department’s continued commitment to high-quality research, innovation, and academic excellence.
