Mirpur University hosts Division-Level Speech Contest as Part of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day Celebrations, Students from MUST, UoK and AJ&K UoB contended in English & Urdu Declamation; top orators felicitated with Shields under the aura of Patriotic Zeal & Jubilant Fervour
In connection with the Celebrations of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day,
Directorate of Students Affairs of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K in collaboration with the Society of Sciences hosted a divisional-level speech contest among the students of Mirpur University, University of Kotli & AJK University of Bhimber at the Mechanical Hall of the City Campus of the University. The following distinguished judges participated in the event to evaluate the contestants bringing their expertise & impartial judgment to ensure a fair competition.

- Muhammad Shahid Jameel, Assistant Professor, Government Post Graduate College Mirpur (AJ&K)
- Mr. Imran Ismail, Lecturer, Government Post Graduate College Mirpur (AJ&K)
After a close contest following were declared as position holders:
1st Position: Shahzadi Avais, CSIT Department (MUST)
2nd Position: Hadia Maqsood, AJK University of Bhimber
3rd Position: Afeera Javed, MLT Department (MUST)
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq, Chief Finance Officer reflected on the deep significance of Independence Day describing it as both a celebration of freedom & a spiritual bond shared by every citizen. He emphasized that the day serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices of our forefathers. Prof. Dr. Rashida Hussain, Dean Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences/ Chief Guest of the event in her address highlighted the importance of 14th August as a day of national pride & unity. She congratulated the winners for their remarkable performances & commended all participants for their eloquence & preparation. She further stressed that such competitions not only polish students’ public speaking skills but also instill deeper understanding of Pakistan’s history & values. The position holders were awarded shields presented by the Chief Guest along with other Senior Officers. During the event Milli Naghmas & documentary highlighting historical significance & sacrifices behind Independence Day were presented. Event was participated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalique, Treasurer MUST, Dr. Muhammad Altaf Hussain, Director Students Affairs, Mr. Taimoor Akbar Chaudhary, Additional Registrar, Mr. Ansar Ali Khan, Deputy Director Students Affairs, Head of the Departments, Faculty Members & Students.
