MUST has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GIKI to strengthen Academic collaboration, Joint Research & AI innovation. The Partnership paves the way for cross-institutional Student engagement, Faculty interaction, increased frequency of Seminars & Training programs; while a significant milestone of the visit was the GIKI Administration’s generous facilitation of access to GPU-based supercomputing resources to further the Frontiers of cutting-edge AI research
Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI(M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K and Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid SI, Rector Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, led their respective institutions in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance academic and research collaboration. The MoU provides a framework for student and faculty exchange, joint research, academic seminars, training programs and development of joint degree initiatives. A recurring MUST–GIKI online seminar series will also be launched to promote knowledge sharing and innovation. The delegation of MUST received a warm welcome from the GIKI leadership including, Brig R Babar Miraj Shami, Pro Rector Admin, Prof. Dr. S. M. Hassan Zaidi, Pro Rector, Academic, Mr. Amar Ali Khan, Director ORIC and Mr. Amin Qureshi, Director BIC GIKI.
The visit program also presented comprehensive tour of GIKI’s laboratories followed by a dinner hosted in honor of the guests. Upon the request of Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz, Director ORIC – MUST, GIKI’s top management granted access to GPU-based high-performance computing resources. This facility will greatly strengthen advanced Artificial Intelligence research at MUST especially in the areas of image processing and generative AI applications. Engr. Irfan Jamshed, Manager Research Management, ORIC MUST was also part of the delegation.
