MUST, Mirpur AJ&K observes Kashmir Solidarity Day to uphold UN-mandated Right of Self-Determination of the People of Illegally Indian-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K), amplify their legitimate & just struggle, highlight persistent human rights violations, reassert Pakistan’s inexorable & principled commitment as well as to accentuate the imperative of peaceful yet constructive progress toward a just, durable & sustainable resolution of the Kashmir dispute; the University community also reiterates its support for the perpetual fortitude & perseverance of the Kashmiri people amid the dark shadows of the occupation
To observe Kashmir Solidarity Week with deep national spirit and humanitarian commitment & to pay homage to the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir IIOJ&K the Directorate of Students Affairs Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST Mirpur AJ&K organized series of events with a Seminar as the central activity in Mechanical Hall of the City Campus. They day commenced with the inauguration of Blood sampling Camp by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Prof. Dr. Rashida Hussain, Dean Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences along with Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Director Students Affairs, Chairpersons, Faculty Members, Administrative Officers & University Students. The formal proceedings of the seminar began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbol (PBUH), Students from various departments delivered insightful speeches highlighting the historical significance of Kashmir Solidarity Day & the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people. The program was further enriched with Milli Naghmas, poetry & documentary, reflecting national pride, emotional attachment and collective resolve in support of the Kashmiri cause.
Addressing the gathering Ms. Maria Iqbal Tarana, Former Chairperson, Commission on the Status of Women AJ&K expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir & emphasized the importance of raising awareness about their struggle & protecting human rights. She urged students to support the cause of Kashmir through education, peaceful activities & by spreading the message of unity. In his concluding remarks Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid highlighted the vital role of educational institutions in promoting peace, justice & collective consciousness regarding global humanitarian issues. The seminar culminated with collective Dua for the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom struggle, peace & prosperity of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir and early realization of freedom for the oppressed people of IIOJ&K. A special Dua was also offered for His Excellency Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry (Late), Former President of the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir/ Chancellor MUST seeking Allah’s mercy, pardon & eternal blessings for him.
Along with Seminar Mirpur University organized series of allied events to further strengthen Solidarity with the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The activities began with Cultural Night that depicted the rich heritage of Kashmir & Gilgit Baltistan through traditional music tableaus & competitions. A Blood Sampling Camp was conducted by the Irfan Shaheed Blood Society MUST (ISBS) which was also accompanied by a Signature Wall where participants expressed their commitment to the noble cause. To promote physical discipline & especially Self-Defense awareness Karate demonstration was organized by the Sports Society MUST in collaboration with AFKA Academy. For Academic & Career Guidance Optimal Legal Study Abroad & Immigration Consultants arranged a free consultation camp for students looking to secure admission at leading international Universities. Meanwhile cultural exhibition organized by Youth Convention Entrepreneurship students displayed Kashmiri artwork & traditional attire reflecting the region’s cultural identity. The observance concluded with the active participation of MUST students in a rally led by the District Administration Mirpur & culminated in the formation of human chain at Mangla Bridge symbolizing unity resilience & support for the Kashmiri people.
