Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K in collaboration with Syed Ali Ahmed Shah Society Mirpur through its Directorate of Students Affairs, Department of Law, International Relations and Student Societies including Paradigm Association & MUST Legal Centre organised 36th death anniversary of Ghazi-e-Millat, Captain General Syed Ali Ahmed Shah, former President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 1040 Hrs in the Mechanical Hall of the City Campus of the University. The ceremony was presided over by Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor MUST & attended by distinguished guests in particular Mr. Naveed Akhtar Goga, Chairman District Council Mirpur, Mr. Shoukat Majeed Malik, Former Secretary GoAJ&K, Mr. Babar Ali Khan, President District Bar Association Mirpur, Mr. Syed Qasir Sheraz Kazmi, Secretary General Syed Ali Ahmed Shah Society, Deans of the Faculties, Heads of Departments, Members of District Bar Mirpur, representatives from District Administration & Kashmir Press Club Mirpur AJ&K.

Speaking on the occasion Brigadier Younus Javed paid tribute to Syed Ali Ahmed Shah for his outstanding services to the people of Jammu & Kashmir particularly his role in the Kashmir Liberation Movement & his huge efforts for the development of the region. He further highlighted that Ghazi-e-Millat demonstrated honesty, humility & selflessness throughout his life. Despite a successful career as a commissioned officer in Dogra Army he gave up his position to join the struggle for the freedom movement showing his deep commitment to the subjugated people of Jammu & Kashmir. Guest Speakers including Chairman District Council Mirpur Former Secretary Information GoAJ&K, President District Bar Association Mirpur & Secretary General Syed Ali Ahmed Shah Society also highlighted his remarkable services & lifelong dedication to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Brigadier Younus Javed expressed his gratitude to Syed Ali Ahmed Shah Society & honorable guests for their participation. He also commended the dedicated efforts of Directorate Students Affairs, Heads of Departments & Members of Student Societies for organising the event in a dignified & exemplary manner. The ceremony culminated with special Dua for Syed Ali Ahmed Shah praying for his elevated ranks in Jannah.
