June 8, 2024Students from Mass Communication Department of MUST, Mirpur participated in Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) arranged Visit to Jari Kas Garrison to gain Real-World insights into Conflict Reporting
In a significant educational initiative 55 students along with faculty members from the Department of Mass Communication of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K visited Jarikas Garrison. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), arranged this visit on request of Mass Communication Department, aimed to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of reporting from conflict zones and the vital role of the Pakistan Army in national defence, with a particular focus on the Line of Control (LOC).
Commanding Officer of the 2 AK Regiment warmly welcomed the participants and provided an in-depth briefing on the Pakistan Army’s professional preparedness and strategic capabilities during conflicts and crises. His presentation emphasized the army’s unwavering commitment to defending the nation and maintaining operational excellence in the most challenging situations.The students were then given a firsthand look at the army’s tactical operations through a live demonstration of an attack on an enemy post. This demonstration provided a vivid example of the operational capabilities and combat strategies employed by the armed forces.
Following the briefing the students visited weapon stalls, where Major Hassan briefed about different types of weapons used by the Army. This segment of the tour was particularly engaging, as students were allowed to handle the weapons and even participate in live firing exercises, offering them a rare practical experience.In addition to the primary objectives, the visit also included sessions on digital terrorism and practical challenges of conflict reporting. The students discussed the importance of objective news coverage and the responsibility of journalists to report accurately and fairly from conflict zones.These discussions were aimed at preparing the students for the complexities they might face in their future careers and to counter propaganda.This initiative was part of MUST Mirpur, commitment to providing hands-on training to its students, ensuring that theoretical knowledge is complemented with practical experiences.
