August 12, 2024International Olympics Day and Pakistan Independence Day
On the celebration of International Olympics Day and Pakistan Independence Day, Mirpur University of Science and Technology, under the supervision of the Directorate of Sports, organized a tape ball cricket match between the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Law. The event took place at the Jarikas Ground and was graced by several esteemed guests and university officials.
The Chief Guest for both the opening and closing ceremonies was Professor Engineer Touseef Ahmed, Project director of MUST and chairman Civil Engineering. The event also welcomed Major Jahangir, Chief Security Officer, as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was hosted by Abid Hussain, Director Sports, along with Assistant Director of Sports, Waqar Saleem. All the staff members of the Directorate of Sports were also present to witness the celebration. Director Sports and his staff were present during the toss, adding to the enthusiasm and spirit of the event. The Chief Guest, Professor Engineer Touseef Ahmed, enjoyed the match throughout its duration, showing great interest and support for the players and the game.In his opening remarks, Director of Sports Abid Hussain welcomed the Chief Guest and extended his gratitude to the Worthy Vice Chancellor, who was initially scheduled to be the Chief Guest. Although the Vice Chancellor was unable to attend due to other commitments, his full support for the Directorate of Sports was greatly appreciated and acknowledged throughout the event.
The Department of Civil Engineering emerged victorious, claiming the winner’s trophy, which was received by Team Incharge Awais Ahmed along with his team. The Department of Law put up a strong fight and were recognized as the runner-up of the tournament, with Team Incharge Sher Abbas receiving the trophy along with his team.
The Chief Guest, Professor Engineer Touseef Ahmed, awarded the trophies to the winning and runner-up teams. He congratulated both teams for their outstanding performances and highlighted the importance of such events in promoting a healthy lifestyle among students.
The event was a resounding success, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a celebration of sport, unity, and national pride.
