His Excellency Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary, President of the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir / Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K inaugurated Academic Block-II at Jarikas Campus on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor MUST along with Deans of Faculties & Principal Staff Officers paid a warm reception to His Excellency the President AJ&K at the inauguration ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Ministers of the Government of AJ&K, Senior bureaucrats, Notables from Mirpur Division, District Management, Representatives Media & Eminent Educationalists.

Dr. Syed Zishan Ashiq, Project Director, delivered a thorough and in-depth briefing on the Mega Project through a multimedia presentation. He discussed the project’s historical background, shedding light on the various obstacles that hindered progress, as well as the challenges and setbacks faced throughout its development. He also highlighted notable achievements made under the leadership of Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor Mirpur University especially in overcoming financial constraints & emphasised his vision and efforts in driving the project towards success.

Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor MUST, Mirpur AJ&K in his opening remarks paid gratitude to His Excellency Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary, President of AJ&K for gracing the inauguration ceremony of the Development Project. He extended thanks to the Chancellor for his consistent support and backing at the highest national forums particularly in administrative and financial matters. The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the prevailing issues regarding outstanding payments and requested kind support of President in securing the outstanding funds. He further highlighted the success of MUST in recovering Rs. 131 million from Jubilee Insurance, acknowledging the major role of Prof. Dr. Khizer ul Haq, Registrar MUST & his team including Dr. Syed Zishan Ashiq, Project Director and Mr. Muhammad Faizan Saleem, LLM, Advocate Lahore High Court.

Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary, President of AJ&K while addressing the participants urged Faculty, Administrative Officers & Staff to continue their dedicated efforts in enhancing the quality of teaching & learning with the ultimate goal of attaining both national and international recognition. He also assured his full support in securing the outstanding funds from the Kashmir Council and the allocation of additional funding from the Government of AJ&K and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad. The President expressed complete confidence in Brigadier Younus Javed’s vision and instrumental efforts in paving the way for the university to become a leading hub of research and modern education.

At the conclusion of the inaugural ceremony, shields of honor were exchanged between His Excellency Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary and Brigadier Younus Javed. Prof. Dr. Khizer ul Haq, Registrar MUST, Dr. Syed Zishan Ashiq, Project Director and Mr. Muhammad Faizan Saleem, LLM, Advocate Lahore High Court
also received shields from the President of AJ&K for their exceptional services in the growth and development of the university particularly for recovering a significant amount of Rs. 131 million from the insurance company.
