Brigadier Younus Javed while gracing the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences Annual Function 2K25, emphasized that such Events are catalytic, formative & instrumental in advancing Healthcare Education & cutting-edge research, highlighted the importance of closer collaboration between Academia & Industry to cultivate the Next Generation of Medical Leaders, stressed MUST’s leading role in addressing the pressing Healthcare challenges of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and reiterated the strong commitment of the University to fortify Regional health infrastructure & professional standards; thereby strengthening its standing as a leading institution shaping capable Medical Professionals across AJ&K
Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K honoured the occasion with his presence as the Chief Guest at the Annual Function 2K25 of the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences (FHMS). The event celebrated Academic Excellence, Student Achievements, Cultural Diversity & strengthening of Academia & Industry partnerships. Event was attended by Deans, Principal Officers, Heads of Departments, Administrative Officers, Distinguished Guests, Industry Partners, Faculty Members, Staff Students. The program commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) and the National Anthems of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The program brought Qalam-e-Iqbal, Sufiana Kalam and other cultural performances to the audience. Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz, Dean Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences warmly welcomed the Vice Chancellor and esteemed guests expressing gratitude for their support and presence.
A key feature of the ceremony was the MoU Signing Session aimed at enhancing Academia – Industry collaborations, boosting research opportunities & expanding avenues for paid internships for students, clinical exposure & professional development. A total of 25 MoUs were signed with Pharmaceutical Industries, Nutritional Companies & Diagnostic Laboratories benefitting the Departments of Doctor of Pharmacy, Human Nutrition & Dietetics, Microbiology, Doctor of Physical Therapy & Allied Health Sciences through training, paid internships & mutual exchange of expertise. As a significant gesture of support Rs. 3 million was pledged for the construction of a dedicated female prayer area by Feroz Engineering & Construction Company Mirpur facilitated through the efforts of Mr. Luqman Jarral, Excise Inspector. The event was planned by Chief Organizers Dr. Qazi Amir Ijaz, Department of Pharmacy and Poushmal Abdul Razzaq, Human Nutrition & Dietetics supported by student organizers Rizwan Tariq and Kainat Ghauri whose efforts along with a committed team of volunteers ensured a highly successful execution. Co-supervision was provided by Dr. Mian Muhammad Zeeshan Javaid, Chairman Department of Pharmacy with assistance from coordinators Mr. Aqib Saeed HND, Dr. Tehseen Ismail, Microbiology, Dr. Ayesha Jamal, DPT & Ms. Farhat Shaheen AHS. During the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor presented shields to the Deans, former Dean FH&MS, Principal Officers, Directors, Heads of Departments, Government Officials & Industry Partners in recognition of their contributions. Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz presented Horse-shaped memento to the Vice Chancellor to appreciate his leadership and support. Awards were also distributed to Academic position holders (2025), Winners of the Sports Gala 2K25 & dedicated support staff by senior University officials including Prof. Dr. Rashid Hussain, Dean FN&AS, Prof. Dr. Naeem Iqbal Ratyal, Registrar MUST, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean FSS&H, Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab, Former Dean FH&MS, Prof. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber, Director QEC, Mr. Kamran Hameed, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Mian Zeeshan Javaid, Chairman, Pharmacy & Dr. Tariq Masood, Vice Principal, BB Media College Mirpur.
In his address Brigadier Younus Javed, VC MUST commended Dean, Chairpersons, Coordinators, Faculty & Students of FH&MS for organizing remarkable event, observing that the discipline, presentation and overall execution matched the standard of a Convocation. He appreciated the hosts, performers & support teams for their dedication and professionalism. He also paid special tribute to the CEOs & representatives of MoU-signing organizations applauding their generosity in providing facilities, training platforms & essential equipment for MUST students, an invaluable service to the youth of AJ&K and a meaningful contribution to strengthening the region’s healthcare sector. The ceremony concluded with group photographs of Industry Partners, Government Officials, University Officials, Faculty Members & FHMS Students marking the end of a memorable & impactful event.
