Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan organised a flagship conference entitled Faculty Leadership & Management Excellence (FLAME) 2025 on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Islamabad. FLAME – 2025 stands as key milestone of National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE)’s National Outreach Program for Faculty Training & Capacity Building Program for University Management, it represents a crucial advancement in the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan’s mission to enhance the Higher Education in the Country. The program bridges Academic leadership & Administrative effectiveness, empowering faculty & university managers with modern tools, strategic insights & shared vision for excellence. By uniting educators & leaders nationwide NAHE is cultivating a dynamic professional community skilled in leadership, governance, pedagogy, research & institutional development. FLAME -2025 not only promote visionary leadership & institutional strength but also exemplifies Higher Education Commission’s commitment to human capital development.
The Conference featured two dynamic plenary sessions. Plenary – I titled “Empowering Faculty and Management Leadership through Professional Development” explored strategies for strengthening academic and administrative leadership. Plenary – II focused on “Women’s Empowerment in Higher Education” highlighted the vital role of gender equity and leadership in academia. Among the distinguished speakers in Plenary-I was Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University alongside other academic leaders and scholars. VC MUST spoke on “Evaluating the Impact of Professional Development Programs” sharing valuable insights into how such initiatives are shaping institutional performance and academic quality. The panelists appreciated the success of National Outreach Program commending NAHE for designing well-structured training modules and effectively implementing them across universities. The panelists of Plenary 1 presented glowing key recommendations i.e. Alignment & Policy, Evaluation & Incentives, Quality Assurance & Access, Community & Leadership. To further strengthen this ecosystem they also recommended Mandatory PD portfolios in selection boards & annual reviews, ensuring continuous skill development. A national PD-based university ranking system with KPIs & public visibility to drive accountability.
