Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), a PEC-recognized professional engineering body, successfully organized a one-day seminar titled “Emerging Trends in Power Systems and Maintenance Management” on March 19, 2025. The session was led by Dr. Zafar Ali Khan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at MUST, who brings extensive experience from research, hydroelectric power plants and projects. Held at the WAPDA Hydel Power Training Institute (HPTI), Mangla, the seminar was specially designed for the newly inducted WAPDA officers of batches 23 and 24 in the hydropower sector.

The event was also attended by senior officials, including the Chief Engineer and Directors of HPTI. Key discussions included:

1. The latest trends shaping modern power systems

2. The impact of emerging technologies on hydroelectric power generation

3. The role of computerized maintenance management system in ensuring efficiency and reliability.
