In a spirited celebration of Independence Day Jarikas Garrison organised “Azadi Cricket Match” between Garrison Team and Team of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K. The event took place at Brigade Ground, with Brigadier Tanveer Hussain serving as the Chief Guest. The match was attended by Commanding Officers, Organising Officers, Garrison Officers and Representatives of District Police Mirpur AJ&K. Dr. Muhammad Altaf, Director Students Affairs, Mr. Abid Hussain, Director Sports, Mr. Anser Ali Khan, Deputy Director Student Affairs, Mr. Waqar Saleem, Assistant Director Sports and Mr. Rashid Mahmood, Physical Trainer Instructor also attended the friendly match.

The match started with MUST winning the toss and deciding to bat first. They set a formidable target by scoring 164 runs in 10 overs. In response the Garrison team managed to score only 102 runs in 9 overs with all its batsmen. Hassam Tariq of Mirpur University was the star of the match scoring a remarkable 102 runs, earning titles of Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament whereas Mir Daim Riaz of MUST stood out as the top wicket-taker.

Following the match closing ceremony Brigadier Tanveer Hussain presented the prize money to winners, runners-up and to the man of match player, extended congratulations to Mirpur University team and Administration for their well-earned victory. He also praised Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor MUST, Mirpur AJ&K for his collaborative support in organising such a successful event. The occasion served as a fitting tribute to the spirit of Independence Day, showcasing both sportsmanship and unity. Refreshments to all players and officials were served during the match ensuring a hospitable atmosphere.
