Dr. Sohaib Manzoor and Dr. Imran Aziz from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Mirpur University clenched Rs. 10 million in Pakistan Innovation Fund Award 2023 for Tech Startup

In pursuance of the directions by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and in line with the Vision 2025, The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives launched the Pakistan Innovation Fund. Citizens and firms/organizations both in Public and private sectors were asked to submit the proposals for innovative projects that lead to the development of the new products, services and value addition in existing products aimed at productivity enhancement in the sectors of Governance, Agriculture, Education, Health, Tech Startups and Women Entrepreneurship.

In the first phase the written proposals were shortlisted all over Pakistan. In the 2nd phase a committee comprising senior government official including His Excellency Engr. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Planning and Development, experts and industry leaders took the pitch for the proposal ideas and made recommendations for the awards.
Dr. Sohaib Manzoor, Lecturer at Department of Electrical Engineering / Manager Innovation and Commercialization in ORIC and Dr. Imran Aziz Lecturer at Department of Electrical Engineering submitted a proposal related to Tech Startups for Wireless Communication. On the shortlisting of the project proposal, Dr. Sohaib Manzoor was invited to present a pitch to the Pakistan Innovation Fund Team and was able to convince them for the production of the “Smart Programmable Access Point” which will contribute to the IT hardware export of the country. The honorable Minister for Planning and Development Engr. Ahsan Iqbal congratulated Dr. Sohaib Manzoor, Lecturer/Manager Innovation and Commercialization on winning the pitch.

The Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K, Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, SI(M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K acknowledged the efforts made by the young scientists and encouraged them to work with the similar pace to enlighten the name of MUST, Mirpur AJ&K and to uplift the economy of Pakistan.
