The Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif awarded high achievement certificates and laptops to outstanding students from the Departments of Mechanical, Electrical & Software Engineering of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K. The awards were presented during the National Youth Convention titled “Story of Pakistan & Role of Youth” held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. University students were recognised for their exceptional Final Year Design Projects which earned top positions nationally at the 2nd Expo of the Pakistan Engineering Council earlier this year.

Mechanical Engineering Department: Engr. Shahbaz Shareef, Engr. Hasnain Alvi, Engr. Muhammad Ehtisham & Engr. Ahad Saleem who were celebrated for their project on waste heat recovery for the cement industry. The project supervised by Engr. Dr. Khuram Pervez, Associate Professor / former Chairperson Mechanical Engineering Department secured 3rd place nationally at the 2nd Federal Engineering Capstone Expo, held on January 24, 2024, at the Pak-China Friendship Center in Islamabad. The project also received funding from the Pakistan Engineering Council.

From the Software Engineering Department: Engr. Amna Zahoor, Engr. Noor Fatima & Engr. Kashif Rehman were honored for their nationally recognised project titled “A Smart Helmet Automation System for Coal Miners” supervised by Engr. Dr. Ahmad Khan, Assistant Professor of the Software Engineering Department.

Electrical Engineering Department: Engr. Akbar Kiyani received recognition for his project on load balancing in high-density software-defined Wi-Fi networks. His project was supervised by Engr. Dr. Sohaib Manzoor, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering.

Five prominent players of Mirpur University including Abdullah Abbasi, National Badminton Player, Hanzala Imtiaz, Football Player, Faisal Mehmood, Cricket player & Khatib Kabir, Cricket Player participated in the National Youth Convention under the supervision of Mr. Abid Hussain, Director of Sports. Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K expressed his pride in the students’ achievements, highlighting the MUST dedication to providing high-quality education and fostering industrial-level project design. He congratulated the students and their supervisors on this remarkable accomplishment. MUST, Mirpur AJ&K is the only University from entire Azad Jammu & Kashmir whose students have received these prestigious awards marking a significant moment of pride for the entire university community, students their families & supervisors.
