December 29, 2023MUST, Mirpur AJ&K attains Prestigious Level-II Accreditation for Three Consecutive Years (batches) from (PEC) for its Engineering Programs
Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K is pleased to announce a significant milestone as the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has awarded Level-II accreditation (Washington Accord) to all five engineering programs offered by the university. The accreditation spans various departments, including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer System Engineering, and Software Engineering. The Departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering have received a commendable three-year level-II accreditation for the batches 2019, 2020, and 2021. Meanwhile, the Departments of Computer System Engineering and Software Engineering have secured a two-year level-II accreditation for the batches 2019 and 2020.
This achievement marks a historic moment for MUST, as it is the first time in the university’s history that the Pakistan Engineering Council has conferred Level-II accreditation for three consecutive years, covering three batches. Notably, MUST stands as the sole university in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) to attain this prestigious three years level-II accreditation. Prof. Dr. Naeem Iqbal Ratyal attributes this accomplishment to the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor MUST, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed. Dr. Naeem extends congratulations to the entire faculty and staff for their dedication and hard work.
In response to this remarkable achievement, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor of MUST, expressed his congratulations to Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Heads of Departments (HoDs), faculty members, staff, and students. He further said, it’s a proud moment for our faculty, our students and indeed for our whole AJ&K region. He emphasized that this extraordinary accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and skills of the engineering faculty at MUST.The university looks forward to maintaining and exceeding these standards, further contributing to the advancement of engineering education in the region.
The Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme, an initiative under Prime Minister’s Youth Program is being executed by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. The Project aims to provide free of cost laptops and all allied opportunities to the young and talented students studying in public sector Higher Education Institutions across the country. The Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K initially received 595 laptops as part of a laptop distribution scheme. Subsequently, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, SI(M) and the Students Assistance Centre (SAC) Office Director Engr. Dr Naveed Akram requested an increase in the laptop count from 595 to 674. Team of HEC visited Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K for distribution of laptops under PM Youth Laptop Scheme. A ceremony regarding distribution of laptops among awardees of PM Youth Laptop Scheme was held in the office of Dean Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences. The chief guest of the ceremony was HEC Representative Mr. Asad Mehmood and Mr. Abdul Jabbar. The chief guest appreciated efforts of SAC for facilitating students of MUST. It is reported that all 674 laptops have been successfully distributed among students.
