Brigadier Younus Javed awards Scotland-Pakistan Scholarships amounting to Rs 6.40 Million to 43 Female Students of MUST, Mirpur AJ&K commemorating Academic distinction, edification & ascendancy of Women through Higher Education
The Scotland-Pakistan Scholarship for Young Women & Girls Award Ceremony 2024 was held at the Youth Development Center (YDC) of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K honouring Academic excellence and leadership potential of female students from the University, organised in collaboration with the Scottish Government, British Council & MUST, Mirpur the event recognised the achievements of 43 outstanding young women who have demonstrated remarkable merit in their respective fields. Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, SI(M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest, joining him at the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber, Directors of QEC, Dr. Saeed Ahmed, Director GPB, Dr. Ilyas Minhas, Chairman Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Naveed Akram, Chairman Department of Mechanical Engineering, Major Jahangir Ahmed, Chief Security Officer, Mr. Abid Hussain, Director Sports, Mr. Zafar Hussain, Security Officer, Mr. Hafeez Bin Mustafa, Public Relations Officer, Faculty members, University Students and the awardee students.
Brigadier Younus Javed distributed the first instalment of PKR 6.40 million along with certificates among the recipients for the Academic Session 2024–25. While addressing the Awardees he emphasized the importance of gender equality in education. Investing in women’s education is investing in the future of Pakistan. These scholars are not just changing their own lives but also paving the way for future generations, he added. The awardees selected through a competitive process expressed their gratitude for the life-changing opportunity. One of the recipients Ms. Hina Hanif from Electrical Engineering said that this scholarship is a stepping stone toward her dreams & would help her to contribute in her academic career & would definitely inspire other girls to strive for excellence. At culmination of the ceremony Vice Chancellor MUST had a group photo with all participants & congratulated Dr. Mohsin Zafar, Director SAC & his team for securing the highest volume of scholarships for deserving students.
