April 26, 2024The 3-Day Seminar hosted by Institute of Islamic Studies(IIS) of MUST, Mirpur culminated with a discussion on “Comparative Studies, Globalization and Practical Insights”
Prof. Dr. Khizer ul Haq, Registrar, Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K chaired the third day of Seminar which was organised by Institute of Islamic Studies(IIS), at the City Campus of Mirpur University. The final day focused on global perspectives, integration, and practical insights, covering a wide range of topics relevant to contemporary Islamic Studies research.
Session 1: Comparative Islamic Studies Research: Exploring Connections and Differences Across Cultures
Speaker: Dr. Raja Majid Moazzam (UOK AJK)
Dr. Raja Majid Moazzam initiated the day’s discussions with an enlightening presentation on comparative Islamic Studies research. He explored connections and differences across cultures, providing valuable insights into the diversity and richness of Islamic Studies research. Dr. Majid also highlighted the emerging atheist approaches in modern societies and discussed their demography in the modern era.
Session 2: Research Ethics in Islamic Studies: Challenges and Best Practices
Speaker: Prof. Dr. Baqir Khakwani (AIOU)
Prof. Dr. Baqir Khakwani discussed research ethics in Islamic Studies, highlighting the challenges and best practices. He emphasized the importance of ethical considerations in research, ensuring integrity and credibility. Additionally, he encouraged scholars to search for new horizons in Islamic Studies to meet the challenges of the future. He advised scholars to come up with new ideas for research that address the challenges of the modern world.
Session 3: Final Steps of Research for Postgraduate Students
Speaker: Dr. Aftab Ahmed Rai (IIUI-IRI)
Dr. Aftab Ahmed Rai provided practical insights into the final steps of research for postgraduate students. His comprehensive presentation covered topics such as how students can conduct literature reviews, write effective introductions, and acknowledgement in the thesis work. His guidance was invaluable for students looking to complete their research projects successfully.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks and certificate distribution by Prof. Dr. Khizer ul Haq Registrar MUST, Mirpur AJ&K. He expressed his gratitude to the worthy Vice Chancellor Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M) & HEC Pakistan for providing the valuable opportunity. He acknowledged the efforts of Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Tahseen Ghous, and the Director of IIS, Dr. Sajjad Ahmed, for organizing this remarkable three-day seminar.
The Registrar also extended his appreciation to the guest speakers for delivering fruitful and informative lectures. He congratulated Dr. Sajjad Ahmed, Assistant Professor at IIS MUST, for winning the grant of 0.5 million rupees from HEC, acknowledging his outstanding achievement.
