October 31, 2025The Department of English of MUST, Mirpur splendidly celebrated the Republic Day of Turkiye epitomizing the resplendent cultural consonance, eminent historical affinities & the perennial fraternity binding the two Brotherly Nations

The Department of English, Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities, proudly celebrated the second day of Pakistan–Türkiye Friendship Week with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The event was graced by the Dean FSS&H, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal as the Guest of Honour, Coordinator/HoD Department of English, Dr. Sehrish Shafi, respected faculty members, and a large number of energetic students. The students actively took part in multiple performances that highlighted the strong cultural and historical connections between the two brotherly nations. The activities included inspiring speeches, expressive poetry recitations, a specially-screened documentary showcasing Pakistan–Türkiye relations over the years, as well as cultural presentations from both countries. A soulful Sufi dance performance added a touch of spiritual harmony to the event.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal appreciated the efforts of the department and conveyed his admiration for the everlasting friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye. He highlighted significant historical moments that strengthened bilateral ties and acknowledged the mutual support both nations have shown to each other in difficult times. He further stated that such events play a vital role in promoting unity, cultural awareness, and respect among students. The Dean congratulated the HoD, faculty, and students for successfully organizing a memorable and impactful event.
