The Open Public Thesis Defense of Ms. Aneeqa Sharif, First Ph.D. Scholar from the Department of Zoology, was held in the Video Conference Room of Network and Telecommunication Center of MUST, Mirpur AJ&K. Ms. Aneeqa Sharif successfully defended her Ph.D. research under the supervision of Dr. Anser Ali, Chairperson Department of Zoology. Dr. Aniqa was the first to earn a Ph.D. from this Department breaking new ground.

The defense was attended by Dr. Haroon Ahmed, Associate Professor, Department of Biosciences, COMSATS Islamabad, who served as the external examiner. Other distinguished attendees included Prof. Dr. Tashfeen Akhtar, Acting Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FoN&AS); Mr. Kamran Hameed, Controller of Examinations; Engr. Dr. Anzar Mahmood, Director AS&RB; Engr. Prof. Dr. Khurram Pervaiz Amber, Director QEC; Dr. Zahid Hussain, Dr. Huma Ayub, Dr. Rizwan Ullah, Dr. Usman Ali, Ms. Samina Noor, Ms. Sundus Farooq, Ms. Attoba Mushtaq, Ms. Kiran Liaqat, and Dr. Anser Ali, Chairperson of Zoology. Faculty members from various departments, Ph.D. and M.Phil. research scholars, as well as undergraduate students, were also present at the defense.

Following the scholar’s presentation a comprehensive question-and-answer session was held in which faculty members, students and the external examiner actively participated. Later the Supervisory Committee along with the External Examiner, Controller of Examinations, Director QEC & Director AS&RB held a meeting separately to finalize the decision. The Dean, FoN&AS officially announced the decision of PhD. Defense as “Successful” declaring candidate as “Doctor”. He also commended the scholar and the Department of Zoology for conducting quality research work. Finally, Dr. Anser Ali, Supervisor and Chairperson Zoology, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and the audience for their participation in the defense.
