January 27, 2025The Institute of Islamic Studies organised two-day workshop focused on contemporary paradigms & interdisciplinary methods in the field of Islamic Studies

The Institute of Islamic Studies of Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) successfully held a two-day workshop, designed to explore contemporary approaches and interdisciplinary frameworks in Islamic Studies. The event gathered scholars, researchers, and students for insightful academic discussions.
Day 1:
The workshop began with opening remarks by Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He appreciated the efforts of the Institute of Islamic Studies and extended gratitude to the guest speakers, presenting shields as tokens of appreciation.The first session featured a lecture by Dr. Zaroor Ullah from Al-Qadir University on “Research Ethics,” emphasizing the critical principles of ethical research in academia. Following the Jumu’ah prayer, the second session was led by Dr. Abdul Rehman from Rawalakot University, who addressed the challenges faced by research scholars in thesis writing and offered practical strategies to overcome them.The day concluded with remarks by Dr. Asghar Khan, Director of the Institute of Islamic Studies, and Dr. Tahir Aslam, who summarized the key points of the day’s discussions.
Day 2:
The first lecture, delivered by Syed Murtaza Shah Bukhari from the Character Education Foundation (CEF), focused on “Empowering Scholars: Exploring Character Education Foundation’s Vision, Projects, and Community Impact at MUST University.” He highlighted the foundation’s commitment to fostering character building through Islamic Studies and its ongoing projects that enhance the academic environment at MUST. In the second session, Dr. Sajjad Ahmed presented on “New Emerging Trends in Multidisciplinary Research” and its application in Islamic Studies, providing scholars with innovative approaches to interdisciplinary research. The third lecture, delivered by Dr. Rai Aftab Ahmed from the Islamic Research Institute (IRI) at IIUI, focused on “Research Methodology with a Scholarly Approach in Thesis Writing.” He provided valuable insights into enhancing the academic rigor of research.
The final lecture was delivered by Dr. Bilal Bhatti from the Mass Media Department on “Role of Social Media in Islamic Studies Research.” He discussed the transformative impact of social media on research, highlighting its role in knowledge dissemination, collaborative opportunities, and innovative methodologies for Islamic Studies. The Institute of Islamic Studies extends its heartfelt gratitude to all speakers, participants, and organizers for their invaluable contributions, ensuring the success of this academic endeavor.
