Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor MUST, Mirpur AJ&K on behalf of His Excellency the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir/Chancellor MUST, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, conferred degrees to a total of 2960 graduates including 2508 BS, 440 MS/M Phil and 18 PhDs with 100 students being decorated with Gold Medals.
Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K marked a momentous occasion as it celebrated the 8th Convocation Ceremony honouring the achievements of 2960 bright graduates who successfully completed their degree programs from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences & MUST Business School. The ceremony was held at the City Campus of the University on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 1100 hrs. His Excellency Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Prime Minister of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir & Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed HI, SI, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad attended the event as Chief Guest & Guest of Honour.
Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor MUST along with the Deans of Faculties & Principal Staff Officers paid warm reception to honourable Prime Minister & Chairman Higher Education Commission upon their arrival at 8th Convocation 2024 of Mirpur University. Prof. Dr. Khizar ul Haq, Registrar MUST & Mr. Kamran Hameed, Controller of Examinations led the grand procession, following this Dr. Khizar directed the convocation proceedings, while Ms. Tahira Batool, Deputy Registrar hosted the event.
The grand ceremony of 8th Convocation 2024 was attended by Ministers of the GoAJ&K, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, Vice Chancellor, University of AJ&K, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed, Vice Chancellor, Women University Bagh, Dr. Muhammad Idrees Abbasi, Secretary, Presidential Affairs, former Vice Chancellors, former Registrars, Members of the University Senate, Syndicate and Academic Council, Administrative Officers of Mirpur Division, Representatives of Bar Councils, Representatives of Print and Electronic Media, Deans of Faculties, Chairpersons, Directors, Principal Officers, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff, Eminent Educationalists, Notables from Mirpur Division and passed-out University students along with their parents.
Speaking on the occasion Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor MUST congratulated the graduating students & their parents especially those who have attained Gold Medals and PhD degrees. He commended graduates not only for their academic achievements but also for their holistic development including their involvement in extracurricular activities, community service & research initiatives. He stated that the university takes pride in nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact on society. The Vice Chancellor while highlighting the major achievements of the University said that MUST has so far produced 17893 graduates including 16383 BS, 1481 MS/MPhils in different disciplines & 29 PhDs in various fields. Today a total of 2960 graduates are being recognised including 2508 BS, 440 MS/MPhil & 18 PhDs, whereas 100 students are being decorated with Gold Medals.
Chairman Higher Education Commission, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, HI, SI, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students. While addressing them he said, remember that this moment is a testament to your hard work & dedication. The entire nation looks to you with hope & anticipation as you step into this new chapter. The future belongs to those who dare to dream and strive relentlessly to turn those dreams into reality. As graduates of MUST, you are uniquely positioned to drive progress and innovation. Dynamic and visionary leadership has been instrumental in the growth and development of MUST and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with MUST and all public sector universities in AJ&K.
His Excellency the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir/Chancellor MUST, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry in his special message for graduating students extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates and their proud families on achieving this significant milestone in their academic careers. He also recognized the Medal Winners for their exceptional performances. The President emphasised special acknowledgment for the parents who have been enduring source of support throughout their studies, nurturing aspirations and providing the encouragement needed for success.
He further stated that as graduates stand at this decisive moment they are now qualified engineers, scientists, and experts in their respective chosen fields, ready to embark on their professional journeys. The Honourable President also offered his warmest congratulations to the Brigadier Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor MUST & his dedicated Faculty Members and Administrative staff as their commitment and support have played an integral role in this achievement.
Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while addressing the participants of 8th Convocation congratulated the graduating students on their impressive success and lauded the leadership of Brigadier Younus Javed, under whom MUST is providing exceptional knowledge and skills to the graduating students in their respective disciplines. He appreciated the role of the university in strengthening the human resources of both AJ&K and Pakistan. The Premier urged the graduates to be true to their motherland and serve humanity with devotion and passion. He further encouraged graduates to contribute to society and emphasised the importance of possessing strong character and a positive outlook on life.
Brigadier Younus Javed presented Convocation shields to honourable Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Prime Minister AJ&K, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, also received a shield from the Prime Minister. At the culmination of the ceremony, Gold Medalists & PhD scholars along with their faculties led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Dean FoE&T, Prof. Dr. Rashida Hussain, Dean FN&AS, Prof. Dr. Tahseen Ghous, Dean FoSS&H, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Director FMBS & Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab, Dean FoH&MS had group photos with the Premier.
