MUST, Mirpur AJ&K Observes Youm-i-Istehsal Kashmir that marks 6th anniversary of India’s revocation of Kashmir’s Special Autonomy so as to condemn India’s actions & to express firm solidarity with the subjugated people of Jammu & Kashmir. The event dilated upon the ongoing & protracted atrocities in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighted the egregious violations of fundamental human rights and condemned India’s act of converting Valley of Paradise into world’s largest jail
Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K presided over the event held to observe Youm-i-Istehsal expressing solidarity with Kashmiri people’s legitimate right to self-determination & condemning India’s illegal & unilateral move of August 5, 2019. On this day India abrogated Articles 370 & 35-A stripping Jammu & Kashmir of its special constitutional status, an action widely rejected by the international community, Pakistan & Kashmiris across the globe. Speakers including Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Sara Shah, Dr. Sajid Ahmed, and Dr. Asma Iqbal Kyani through their thought-provoking speeches highlighted the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir and urged global institutions to take meaningful action.
Addressing the participants Brigadier Younus Javed said that India’s actions over the past six years have demonstrated complete disregard for international law, aspirations of Kashmiri people & UN Security Council resolutions regarding Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. He also shed light on the legal, historical & humanitarian aspects of the Kashmir conflict and emphasised the role of educational institutions in amplifying the truth & defending human rights through scholarship & civic engagement. Vice Chancellor further said that Pakistan would continue to extend its full support to the Kashmiri people until the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council resolutions, emphasising the nation’s principled stance against oppression & its commitment to a just and lasting solution to Kashmir. The seminar culminated with a special prayer for the freedom of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
