The first PhD scholar of Department of Mechanical Engineering has successfully defended his thesis.
It is a great honor for the Department of Mechanical Engineering to celebrate the achievement of its first PhD graduate. The PhD Scholar “Muhammad Amar” successfully defended his thesis on October 18, 2024, in the Mechanical Hall.
Under the supervision of Engr. Dr. Naveed Akram, Chairperson of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Muhammad Amar conducted exceptional research in the vital field of solar thermal systems, which addresses the urgent need for sustainable energy solutions. His dissertation, titled ‘Performance Analysis of Flat Plate Solar Thermal Collector Using Aqueous Colloidal Dispersible Carbon and Metal-Based Nanofluids,’ explores innovative methods to enhance the efficiency of solar thermal collectors.
Muhammad Amar completed his experimental work at the University of Malaya in Malaysia. His research was evaluated by esteemed experts, including Prof. Dr. Fausto Pedro Garcia Márquez from Spain and Dr. Rad Sadri from Canada, with Engr. Dr. M. Umer Sohail from IST serving as the external evaluator. Additionally, he has published his findings in reputable international journals.
