Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K in collaboration with Syed Ali Ahmed Shah Society Mirpur & Jammu Kashmir Liberation Cell (JKLC), jointly organised the 35th death anniversary of Captain General Syed Ali Ahmed Shah, former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1040 hours in the Mechanical Hall of the City Campus of MUST, Mirpur AJ&K. The ceremony was presided over by Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI(M), Vice Chancellor MUST with the special presence of distinguished guests including Advocate Javaid Najam ul Saqib, President Supreme Court Bar Association AJ&K, Advocate Mehmood Hussain, President District Bar Association Mirpur, Dr. Zubair Ahmed Qazi, Former Director Mian Muhammad Bakhsh Public Library Mirpur (MMBPL), Syed Qasir Sheraz Kazmi, Secretary General Syed Ali Ahmed Shah Society, Sardar Azeem Sarwar Khan, Deputy Director Jammu Kashmir Liberation Cell (JKLC), Raja Khalid Mehmood, Secretary General Anjuman Tajran Mirpur, Mr. Muhammad Javed Malik, District Information Officer, Ms. Uzma Farooq, Director Colleges Mirpur Division, Ms. Farukh Awais, District Education Officer along with member of the Bar Council & Mirpur Community.
On the occasion Brigadier Younus Javed paid tribute to Syed Ali Ahmed Shah for his remarkable contributions for the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially in Kashmir Liberation Movement & Development of the Region. He highlighted that like the greatest leaders of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah & Liaquat Ali Khan, Syed Ali Ahmad Shah exemplified integrity, meritocracy, selflessness & simplicity. He recalled how former President despite his distinguished career as a Commissioned Officer in the Dogra Army chose to leave his position to fight for Kashmir’s freedom, driven by his commitment to justice & opposition to the oppression faced by Muslims under Dogra & British rule. The courageous decision to abandon his high military position during British rule reflected his deepest dedication to the Kashmir cause. No tribute could truly encapsulate the political, social, military & religious services rendered by Syed Ali Ahmad Shah, he added.
Besides the Vice Chancellor MUST other distinguished speakers highlighted the significant services of Syed Ali Ahmad Shah. They praised his long efforts for the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir. The event was attended by Principal Officers, Deans of the Faculties, Heads of Departments, Faculty Members, Officers, Administrative Staff & Students. The Vice Chancellor extended special appreciation to Dr. Syed Zishan Ashiq & Dr. Muhammad Altaf for expertly conducting the stage & managing the event. He also thanked the Deans, Heads of Departments, Faculty Members & Staff for their enthusiastic participation. At the culmination of the event Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities offered Dua for Syed Ali Ahmad Shah, Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir praying for his high rank in Jannat-ul-Firdous.
