Officials of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K participated in Students Support Services 3rd Annual Summit held from July 08 – July 11, 2024. Organised by the Higher Education Strengthening System Activity (HESSA) for 16 partner universities. Annual Summit featured various sessions aimed at enhancing their expertise in multiple areas. The participants included:
1. Dr. Muhammad Altaf, Director Students Affairs attended the Executive Leadership Track (Students Affairs)
2. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), focused on Microenterprise Development
3. Dr. Naveed Akram, Director Students Assistance Center, Financial Aid
4. Dr. Zafar Ali Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering on Alumni Engagement
5. Dr. Saeed Ahmed, Director of the Graduate Placement Bureau, Career Services
6. Dr. Sohaib Manzoor, Manager of Innovation and Commercialization, Students Leadership & Programming
7. Mr. Aqeel Mehmood, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy, focused on Mental Health
The HESSA Students Support Services 3rd Annual Summit focused on addressing key challenges faced by public sector universities in Pakistan and rethinking the role of higher education in the 21st century. The opening ceremony featured remarks from Dr. Kenneth Holland, HESSA Chief of Party, Dr. Randy Schemer and Ms. Grendon Schemer & Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum, Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad. The summit aimed to facilitate discussions on higher education trends, policy issues & showcase the impactful efforts of USAID in supporting universities in Pakistan. Key topics include sustainability and interdisciplinarity, innovation & entrepreneurship, micro-credentials & skills education, online & distance education and building diverse campuses. The summit focused to bring result in partnership opportunities among universities in Pakistan and the United States as well as the launch of a policy dialogue series to address the recommendations that emerge from the various sessions.
