Introduction:

Over the past year, the Graduate Placement Bureau (GPB) at MUST has focused on developing a robust career readiness and job/internship placement program. This initiative aims to prepare students for the job market by aligning their skills with industry needs.

Notably, the GPB has assembled a team of faculty experts specializing in essential interpersonal skills for the job market. The bureau facilitates job searches, internships, and scholarships, both domestically and internationally, emphasizing equal opportunities for all students.

Efforts to disseminate career information include utilizing the MUST website, social media, on-campus resources, and an alumni portal. A dedicated website portal for placement opportunities is also in the works.

The GPB conducts annual activities such as career readiness training sessions, workshops, seminars, talks, interviews, awareness sessions, and exhibitions. To enhance coordination, liaison officers from departments, starting with the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FoE&T), have been appointed, with plans for expansion.

In the past year, around 60 students secured placements in seven companies across Pakistan, primarily from FoE&T, Computer Science & Information Technology, and Home Economics. The GPB remains committed to providing unwavering support for students in their career journeys and plans to extend its services to other faculties in the future.

Future Goals:

In future we have different plans to increase our efforts in various fields; from student training to internships and market placement of our graduates. Some of them are listed below

  • GPB has completed a module of HESSA (details mentioned above); and is planning to complete the second and third modules in the upcoming semesters.
  • New educational policy from HEC has made it compulsory for every BS program to complete 6–8 week internship. GPB plans to create an effective internship management framework so that all our graduating students could easily fulfil this requirement.
  • Web portal for GPB will be uploaded to the university site in 2 months.
  • GPB is planning for a job fair upon completion of educational year 23-24.

Career counseling service are already being provided by GPB on individual basis. A proper schedule for address career related queries and issues is under consideration.
