Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) was established with the endeavour to impart quality higher education to the youth of State including Kashmiri Diaspora. Our vision is to inculcate human values of the highest level for the promotion of a peaceful and harmonious society. MUST was chartered in 2008 and since its inception has anchored in the community, making a difference and transforming lives. MUST is going through the development phase as any new university undergoes. The challenges are enormous however our resolve is unshakable. There is a common perception that the public sector institutions in our country lack ownership of the society. Therefore, we would urge the local community, Kashmiri Diaspora, alumni, friends, parents, corporations, foundations and other benefactors and partners who want to provide opportunities for current students and believe in the importance of vibrant educational experiences grounded in the University’s humanistic values to join us for this noble cause.Accepting the challenge to provide state of the art facilities and reinvigorate the unique learning environment, the administration at the MUST has already sought the approval of the project, worth Rs. 2 billion, for the establishment of the new university buildings. The construction work has already been started at the new site of the university near Mirpur.At present, the university consists of 23 departments and running 56 degree programs including core engineering, natural sciences and important social sciences programmes. We are also planning to introduce more degree programs on need basis including; Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences; School of Heritage and Tourism(SHT); Institute of Modern Languages (IML); Centre for Continuing Professional Development (CCPD); Distance Learning Centre (DLC). We have also allocated six seats in each discipline for the children of overseas Kashmiri. The overseas kashmiries may send their children for higher studies with pride in the discipline of their choice at affordable price in a homely and disciplined environment. We, at Mirpur, will make sure their children get education compatible to international standards.
