The Department of Electrical Engineering seeks to provide comprehensive, rigorous and accredited educational program for the undergraduate and graduate students for the development of well rounded, educated, productive and ethical engineers with robust professional skills, who are capable of exploring diverse interest and can launch successfully into variety of careers offering learning, services and leadership role in various national and international organizations.

  • Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has provided twelve graduate attributes, which an engineering graduate must possess. To streamline with PEC requirements, the Department of Electrical Engineering has approved and adopted these PLOs. The attainment of each PLO is critically assessed and ensured through both direct and indirect methods. Our aim is to inculcate each B.Sc. Electrical Engineering graduate with the attributes given below:

Description of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

PLO-1

Engineering Knowledge

An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PLO-2

Problem Analysis

An ability to identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences

Design/ Development of Solutions

An ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Model of

Department of Electrical Engineering

A Continual Quality Improvement process is in place to review PEOs, PLOs and CLOs for the Department of Electrical Engineering.

1. OBE Based Committees

There are three major committees to implement the OBE system, as per PEC guidelines, based on the KPIs, as recommendation by the concerned Departmental Council. These committees shall be headed by Director CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement). Director CQI and members of the three committees will be approved by the competent authority on the recommendation of Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology.  

  • Undergraduate Committee (UGC)

The committee consists of three faculty members headed by a senior faculty member. The committee is responsible for the following functions:

  1. Collect OBE based individual results and compile accumulative OBE based results of the session.
  2. Check and analyze the attainment of PLOs at student level and check cohort levels.
  3. Check and analyze the attainment of CLOs in the course(s) and check cohort levels.
  4. Analyze CRR (Course Review Reports) and SFF (Student Feedback Form). The SFF shall be submitted by the individual student and CRR shall be submitted by the course instructors.
  5. Recommendation to DARC for appropriate pursual.
  • PEO Assessment Committee (PAC)

The committee consists of three faculty members headed by a senior faculty member. The committee is responsible for the following functions

  1. Collect ASF (Alumni Survey Forms) and ESF (Employer Survey Forms) and approved additional forms from Departmental Council to access PEOs
  2. Check and Analyze attainment of PEOs
  3. Recommendation to DARC for appropriate pursual.
  • Departmental Academic Review Committee (DARC)

The committee consists of three to five faculty members headed by a senior faculty member. The committee shall be responsible for the following functions:

  1. Implementation of the recommendations of UGC and PAC after deliberations through concerned chairperson
  2. Recommendations to IAB and Departmental Council through concerned chairperson

2. Departmental Committees

Following committees constituted by the concerned Head of the department and approved by the Vice Chancellor.

  • CMS Committee

CMS committee will be headed by CMS coordinators and four faculty members. The function of CMS committees include:

  1. Enrollment of the students in the CMS and section allocation
  2. Course(s) registration of individual students
  3. Maintenance of Student CMS login and Faculty CMS login
  4. Implementation of the approved scheme of studies as well as CLOs along with PLOs in CMS
  5. Daily attendance monitoring
  6. Fee verification
  • Semester Surveillance Committee

Semester surveillance committee, headed by a senior faculty member, who is the Chairperson of the committee with two other members. The committee is responsible for the following functions:

  1. Ensure course contents coverage by comparing tests with course outline provided by the teacher.
  2. Monitor classroom activities as mentioned in the course outline.
  3. Examine all problems regarding uniformity before the declaration of result.
  4. Address and decide students’ complaints regarding academic issues.
  • Industrial Advisory Board IAB)

The recent shift from traditional educational systems in universities OBE system has encouraged universities to specify some traits, each engineering graduate should possess by the time of graduation. To set these traits, the input from industry is quite significant and vital. The core responsibility of IAB in the OBE system is the collection of valuable suggestions and recommendations from industrial representatives. This allows the universities to remain up to date with latest trends and techniques required by the industry, which eventually help to promote University-Academia collaboration. This is achieved by continuously upgrading the PEOs and curriculum of any Engineering program. 

IAB comprises of prominent stakeholders from the industry, public sector organizations and relevant EE faculty. The core objectives of IAB are:

  • Design, deliver and evaluate the B.Sc. curriculum based on the industrial feedback
  • Align the curriculum as per the needs and demands of national and international industry
  • Strengthen the industry-academia linkage based on electrical engineering education and research

So far two Industrial Advisory Board meetings have been arranged by the Department of Electrical Engineering.
