Mirpur University commenced the Turkish National Day celebration week with fervour & enthusiasm, marked by flag-hoisting ceremony and seminar on the enduring Pakistan – Turkish amity at City Campus
The first day of the Turkish National Day Celebration Week was held with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal at Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) on October 28, 2025. The event began with a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the Republic Day of Türkiye. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities including, Prof. Dr. Khalique Ahmed, Treasurer, MUST; Dr. Tahir Aslam, Director, Institute of Islamic Studies; Dr.Serish Shafi, Head, Department of English; Mr. Muhammad Ayub, Director Estate Management, Mr. Ansir Ali Khan, Deputy Director Students Affairs, Mr. Zafar Hussain, Security Officer, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff and Students of the University.
Together, they raised the flags of Türkiye, Pakistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir with deep respect and solidarity, symbolizing the enduring friendship between the two brotherly nations. The faculty members and students of the Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS) participated with great passion and enthusiasm, reflecting their commitment to strengthening the cultural, educational, and spiritual ties between Pakistan and Türkiye. Following the flag ceremony, a seminar on “Pakistan–Türkiye Friendship” was held in the Mechanical Hall. The session began with welcome remarks by Dr. Tahir Aslam, Director, Institute of Islamic Studies, who warmly greeted the honourable guests and highlighted the significance of celebrating Türkiye’s Republic Day at MUST.
After the welcome note, Prof. Dr. Khalique Ahmed, Treasurer, MUST, delivered the first address of the seminar, in which he shared insightful views on the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye and appreciated the efforts of the Institute for organizing this meaningful event. Subsequently, different students from BS Islamic Studies delivered their impressive speeches on Pakistan–Türkiye relations, emphasizing the shared values of faith, culture, and brotherhood that bind the two nations together. Later, Dr. Shahbaz Shabbir also delivered an engaging and thoughtful speech, highlighting the educational and cultural collaborations between Pakistan and Türkiye and the need to further enhance mutual understanding through academic exchange. In the concluding session, the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered a keynote address on “Pakistan–Türkiye Relations.” He shed light on the historical depth of the two nations’ relationship and called for continued cooperation in education, research, and development. The program concluded successfully with heartfelt appreciation for the Program Coordinator and Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, whose sincere efforts ensured the smooth execution and success of the event. The day ended with an atmosphere filled with unity, pride, and celebration of the everlasting Pak–Turk friendship.
