February 3, 2025The Department of Human Nutrition & Dietetics held a Nutritional Assessment & Awareness Camp at Police Line, Mirpur, AJ&K
The Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics MUST, Mirpur AJ&K successfully conducted a Nutritional Assessment Camp/saminar at the Police line, Mirpur AJK. Under the expert supervision of Mr. M. Aqib Saeed, Coordinator of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, along with Mr. Awais Saleem, Lecturer, and Ms. Komal Saif, Lecturer, the students actively participated in assessing the health and nutritional status of police trainees. During the camp, comprehensive health screenings were performed, including height, weight, blood pressure, blood glucose levels, BMI, and body fat composition. These assessments provided valuable insights into the trainees’ overall health and fitness levels.
In addition to the screenings, a seminar on lifestyle disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and hypercholesterolemia was conducted. The students educated the participants on the importance of a balanced diet, physical activity, and preventive healthcare strategies to combat these common yet preventable health conditions. The camp was a remarkable initiative to raise awareness about healthy living and disease prevention, emphasizing the role of proper nutrition in maintaining optimal health. The collaborative efforts of the faculty and students of MUST were highly appreciated by the police trainees and officials, reinforcing the university’s commitment to community service and public health awareness. This event marks another milestone in the journey of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics at MUST toward promoting health education and preventive nutrition in the community.
