April 29, 2026The Department of Mathematics at MUST Successfully Conducts Open Public Defense of 13th PhD Scholar Thesis

The Department of Mathematics at Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) proudly announces that its 13th PhD scholar, Mr. Ashfaq Ahmed, has successfully defended his doctoral thesis in an open public defense held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Conference Room of the Electrical Engineering Department, City Campus. Mr. Ashfaq Ahmed conducted his doctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Syed Zakir Hussain Bukhari. His thesis, entitled “Applications of Certain Emerging Techniques in the Study of Some Subclasses of Analytic and Meromorphic Functions,” presents significant contributions to the field of Geometric Function Theory within Complex Analysis. As part of his doctoral work, he has published four research articles in well-reputed impact factor journals, reflecting the quality and impact of his research.
The defense was evaluated by Dr. Sarfraz Nawaz, Associate Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad, who served as the External Examiner. The event was attended by distinguished academic and administrative dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Rashida Hussain, Dean Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences; Mr. Kamran Hameed, Controller of Examinations; Dr. Anzar Mehmood, Director AS&RB; and Mr. Shaukat Hayat, Deputy Director QEC. Members of the supervisory committee, faculty from various departments, and a large number of PhD and M.Phil. scholars, undergraduate students, and other participants were also present. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Kalim ul Haq Tariq, Chairperson, Department of Mathematics, who expressed his appreciation to the external examiner, distinguished guests, faculty members, and students for their valuable participation and support. The Department of Mathematics extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Ashfaq Ahmed and his supervisor on this noteworthy academic achievement, which further strengthens MUST’s commitment to excellence in research and higher education.
