Brigadier Younus Javed, VC MUST Mirpur attends CISS-AJK meeting with Vice Chancellors of AJ&K Universities to discuss the establishment of the Kashmir Resource Center for promoting dialogue between Academics, Policymakers & Local Communities

The Centre for International Strategic Studies, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (CISS-AJK), hosted a meeting with the Vice Chancellors of Public Sector Universities of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad joined the meeting via video link. The CISS-AJK platform provided an opportunity for academic leaders to develop a strategy for establishing Kashmir Resource Center to highlight & safeguard rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the global stage while enhancing the role of academic institutions in driving research, development & regional progress.

The participants of the meeting discussed the major goals for establishing the Kashmir Resource Center focusing on improving the understanding of the Kashmir Conflict through clear communication & joint research. The Resource Center would explore the complexities of the conflict while protecting cultural heritage. It would also encourage sustainable development by connecting academic research with the needs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The center will focus on supporting research, preserving legacy of Kashmir, promoting human rights & helping to resolve the conflict peacefully through strong academic partnerships. The participants of the meeting highlighted the importance of improving communication about Kashmir through targeted research, ensuring the preservation of its history & culture, finding possible solutions to Kashmir conflict & contributing to informed policymaking.
